Preheat the oven to 175C Mark 4 Line a baking tray with baking paper.
Sift the flour into a bowl Add the ground ginger.
Melt together in a saucepan the butter, golden syrup and sugar. Beat an egg in a cup or small bowl
Add the beaten egg t the flour and ginger and mix well. Pour in the melted butter, golden syrup & sugar, mix to a soft pliable dough.
Roll out the dough to 0.5cm thick, then cut with a gingerbread man cutter.
You can just mark on a face with a knife if you like.
Bake for 9-12 minutes.
Allow to cool on a cooling rack and serve or mix up a bit of icing sugar with water stiff and pipe on a face and buttons.
